Meet Brad Kelly
Since April of 1994 when I bought Merck & Co, Inc. (MRK) at $15 and watched it go to $80 in 1999 for a class project in Economic, Legal, and Political Systems I have loved stocks. The stock market is a fun and exciting place. When I went to college, I read The Motley Fool every week, sometimes more than that when I had time. I've read "The Elephant and the Dragon," "When Markets Collide," "How I Trade Options," and every book by Jim Cramer; and I will not be stopping there. If you stop by my office the sounds of the trading day can be heard through our non-stop coverage of CNBC. We have a DVR in the office so that important events during the day can be captured for review at the end of each day before decisions are made for the next.
For years I gave advice to my friends before one of my friends convinced me to get licensed and make a career out of it. I rarely miss anything that goes on during the trading day and I watch every episode of "Fast Money," "Mad Money," and "Options Action." I deal with stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, REITs, and options. I travel from New York to Florida, and from North Carolina to California to meet with clients. I work with young singles and married couples when they first start saving; and I work with multi-million dollar estates coordinating between CPAs, Lawyers, and Trustees.
As a contributor to Magnum Opus Financial it is my pleasure to travel all over the country, meeting people, picking their brains when I can and learning the most up to date information. This year I've already had the chance to chat with the Chief Investment Analysts for both Fidelity Advisers and Invesco AIM. In September I'll travel to Washington for the CNBC Special "Banking on Geitner"; and to Philadelphia for Invest Like a Monster with Jon and Pete Najarian, Guy Adami, and Karen Finerman (with any luck, Joe Terranova will be there). When I get back, I share my experiences with the folks at Magnum Opus Financial and they bring you the "need to know" nuggets from my trips. You'll see me every now and then doing various pieces of content for the website and I'm often in charge of interviewing people from all over the country on all sorts of topics.
In my day job, I am a Registered Representative with Gold Coast Securities in Thousand Oaks, CA. I've been there for years and they have been terrific to work with. Please be aware that Gold Coast Securities and Magnum Opus Financial are two separate, distinct, and non-affiliated companies that do not have a relationship with each other. Magnum Opus Financial is a North Carolina Company that asks me to help them generate content and ideas frequently as they decide what information is best passed on to their constituents. What information they choose to disseminate is up to them. If you chose to become a client of mine at Gold Coast Securities, it will happen independently of what goes on at Magnum Opus Financial, Inc. and in no way are the two companies the same or even related.
